Nestled on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Nshongi Camp offers an authentic base for gorilla trekking in Uganda’s Rushaga sector. As the closest camp to the Nshongi gorilla group trailhead, it combines rustic charm, eco-conscious design, and exceptional guest care.
Founded with a simple mission—to connect people with nature—Nshongi Camp began as a humble eco-lodge and has grown into a trusted retreat for adventure seekers, conservationists, and nature lovers alike.
Each stay supports local communities, funds conservation initiatives, and delivers a meaningful cultural experience.
Silver Twesiime, a former teacher from Rushaga village, is the visionary behind Nshongi Camp. Though he started primary school at age 13 due to Uganda’s turbulent past, Silver went on to build a teaching career. Inspired by neighboring lodges and driven by love for his home region, he founded the camp beside the gorilla park boundary where tracking begins.
Known among guests for his warmth and responsiveness—even answering messages before arrival—Silver is praised as the “perfect host”, helping with transport, permits, and on-site hospitality.
